where’s that crystal ball when you need it…

how often do you find yourself wishing for a crystal ball? daydreaming about what your life might look like a year from now…five years…ten, even? did you ever try to bring to your mind what the love of your life looked like or wonder if that warm, fuzzy feeling you get out of the blue sometimes might be someone there to watch over you?

my grawny was told at the ripe old age of 18 that she would probably not ever carry another child, after the difficult birth of my mom. she went along with her favorite aunt (lucille, who is a whole other post entirely) to see an “old mountain woman”, southern code for a psychic. she was told that she would meet her husband while he was working, and that they would have two children, first a girl and then a boy. this appalachian seer became upset at one point, told my grawny that something bad would happen while she was driving her kids to school in a station wagon. 20 years later, it turns out that something bad was that her husband (who she met when he stopped by as an insurance salesman) would die of a  heart attack, leaving her with two teenaged children, the oldest a girl and the youngest her only son.

so, you see, i lovelovelove a good psychic reading. i’m partial to ones in person, but i have been known to phone a friend every now and then, and today felt like as good a time as any.

my first friend was melania, a self-proclaimed impath and tarot card reader. after our introductions i let her know that i was just looking for a general reading, that i didn’t have any particular situation at hand. she had a very pleasant, younger-sounding voice with a very mid-western accent. i could hear the shuffling and flipping of her cards. since i asked for general, i can honestly say general is what i got. she was quite non-specific, letting me know that i was surrounded by a great deal of positivity, and that “soul mate” was the best term she could find to describe my relationship.

my second friend was lisa. lisa said that she was a life-long clairvoyant and focused on soul purposes. i, again, let her know i was looking for a general reading. lisa was much more specific than melania, although she said the same sorts of things about positivity surrounding my life. she told me that i had three females “on the other side” that were with me almost always. she said one of the females stood out, that she was a small woman, and that she felt she was my great-grandmother (spot on). she said this woman was praying for her family on earth. she told me there was also a man, a small, tightly built, very good looking, fairly young man (this would be my grandfather). she said he was very reliable while he was on earth, and i guess you could call that true, he was a very reliable alcoholic.

they both told me that the opportunity of a move, to a house with land, was in our future for the spring of next year. this is the third time i’ve been told that, which is interesting since at this time we have absolutely no plans of moving.

it was a very good experience, especially for a non-skeptical, mystical lover like me. just a bit of fun and fact.
